Lemon & Honey Drink Recipe with Mānuka Honey
This Lemon & Honey Drink with Mānuka Honey is a perfect winter beverage to keep you warm and cosy. Ideal for snuggling up on a chilly evening.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup hot water
- 2 Tbsp. MVH Mānuka Honey
- 2 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
Method:
- Boil the water. Add any optional ingredients: ginger, turmeric, mint, cinnamon, and/or cayenne. Let it steep for a few minutes.
- Allow the water to cool to below 40°C.
- Add the honey and lemon juice to the water, stirring until the honey is dissolved.
- Let the drink sit for a few minutes to meld the flavours.
- Enjoy warm.
Optional Additions
- Ginger
- 1 tsp. freshly grated
- Adds a spicy flavour and is known for aiding digestion and reducing inflammation.
- Mint
- 3-4 fresh leaves
- Provides a refreshing taste and is often used to help with digestion.
- Cinnamon
- ¼ tsp. ground or 1 small stick
- Introduces a warm spice and is known for its antioxidant properties, which may help with blood sugar regulation.
- Turmeric
- ¼ tsp. Powder
- Brings earthy flavours and is commonly known for its anti-inflammatory properties.
- Cayenne Pepper
- Pinch
- Adds a bit of heat, is reputed to support metabolism, and may help with clearing congestion.
Pro Tip
To ensure your drink retains the nutrients and antibacterial properties of honey, you should allow the water to cool below 40°C. You should be able to hold your finger in it comfortably.
