Methylglyoxal (MGO) is a naturally occurring compound and is largely responsible for Mānuka’s powerful antibacterial effect. While most raw honeys have antibacterial properties, the high levels of MGO give Mānuka an extra antibacterial punch. This discovery has made Manuka Honey the most sought after honey in the world.
